Walker began his NBA career as the sixth overall draft pick of the Boston Celtics in 1996, and went on to spend 12 seasons as a member of the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Miami heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies. He won a title with Miami, was All-Star in 1998, 2002 and 2003, and was on the All-Rookie First Team in 1997.

Sadly, Walker's post-NBA life has been marred by legal troubles and financial ruin, no doubt inspiring him to work hard to make a comeback in one of the few vocations where financial issues can get resolved quickly. He began working out over the summer in an attempt to get back into shape, and has dropped as much as 25 pounds. It now seems he is of at least some interest to the Charlotte Bobcats as training camp looms.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that Walker will arrive in Charlotte this week to begin taking part in daily pick-ups games at Charlotte's practice facility, and that he will stay with long-time friend and current Bobcat Nazr Mohammed.

Atlanta Hawks head coach Larry Drew has finalized his 2010-11 coaching staff with the hiring of former pro Nick Van Exel to the position of Player Development Instructor, it was announced this afternoon. Van Exel, comes to Atlanta from Texas Southern University, where he served as an assistant coach.

“We’re very excited to add Nick to the staff,” said Drew. “I think he brings a wealth of knowledge to the position, and given his past experiences, he’ll be really vital to the development of our young guards, particularly Jeff Teague and Jordan Crawford".

Wizards forward Andray Blatche will be ready for training camp later this month.Blatche had surgery to repair a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot last June and was expected to miss.He had his boot removed about 10 days ago and has been moving without discomfort.

El ala-pívot de los wizards, Andray Blatche estará preparado para el campus de entrenamiento a finales de este mes. Blatche tuvo que operarse del quinto metatarso de su pie derecho, el cual estaba roto, a finales de Junio y se esperaba que se perdiera tres meses de juego. I have listened this rumor since two days ago, but would be Chicago a better fit for him?

The bulls have signed three shooting guards (Korver, Brewer & Bogans) none of them is a better player than Fernandez, but neither he is much better than them.

If Fernandez does work out, he could potentially become the all-around starting two-guard the Bulls still technically need. For all the talent they've signed on, they still don't have a starting-quality shooting guard. Fernandez could be that, leaving players like Korver, Brewer, and Bogans in the reserve roles where they probably belong.

Obviously, Chicago has decided that the scales measuring risk and reward are leaning more towards this being a good thing, but first the Blazers have to figure out what they can get for their talented Spaniard on the open market. First round pick is what they wanted but now they want more, they are seeing, the interest from other teams . So, how much more can they get, and would the Bulls be willing to offer it?

Obviamente Chicago ha mirado los pros y los contras, y la balanza se decanta por el lado bueno.

Ellos ofrecieron una primera ronda, tal y cómo quería Portland. Pero estos al ver el interés de varios equipos, quieren más por él.

He aquí la cuestión: Cuánto quieren los Blazers por Rudy y ver si los Bulls estarían dispuestos a aceptarlo.

Rudy Fer­nan­dez con­tin­ues to lobby for a trade to New York, but the Knicks either can not or will not make a trade for the Port­land shoot­ing guard.

Accord­ing to a team source, Knicks pres­i­dent Don­nie Walsh recently rejected a three-team deal that would have sent Anthony Ran­dolph to Indi­ana, a first-round pick to Port­land and Fer­nan­dez to New York.

Because the Trail Blaz­ers are insist­ing on receiv­ing a first-round pick in return for Fer­nan­dez, the Knicks likely need to recruit a third team in order to com­plete a deal.

Former NBA guard Dee Brown announced through his Twitter account that he is coming to Dallas Mavericks training camp later this month hoping to re-ignite his career.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban confirmed that the 6-footer, who last year played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, will be in camp. Brown will come on a non-guaranteed contract. The Mavs have one open spot on the 15-man roster.

Brown, the 46th overall draft pick of the Utah Jazz in 2006 out of Illinois, where he played with Jazz All-Star point guard Deron Williams, also played with Washington and Phoenix, as well as several stints overseas.

El ex jugador de Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards o Phoenix Suns, Dee Brown, anunció ayer en su cuenta de twitter que los Mavericks le habían dado la oportunidad de asistir al Training Camp para tratar de ganarse un puesto en la plantilla.

Mark Cuban confirmó que el base de 26 años hará la pretemporada con los Mavericks con un contrato no garantizado. Brown (6'0, 185 Lbs) se caracteriza por ser muy rápido, penetrador y muy luchador.

Lo más posible es que su presencia se deba a la baja por lesión de Rodrigue Beaubois, quien se perderá la mayor parte de la pretemporada y quizás también el inicio de Temporada Regular con una fractura en el pie. Una vez Roddy esté recuperado, veremos si Brown ha conseguido convencer a los Mavs de que debe quedarse.
